Abstract: The reasons for emerging OWL as a standard for ontology representation in the Semanic Web are discussed in the paper. OWL structre and possibilities for representing ontologies of transdisciplinary knowledge are outlined. Recommendations for using OWL at the interdisciplinary level are proposed.
