INCREASE THE LEARNING INTO E-LEARNING
By: Doneva et al.  (4682 reads)
Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: It is discussed some changes in the traditional e-learning notion on the point of view of R. Koper’s question 'where is the learning in e-learning?’. We put a focus on the conception of learning as a management process and present the project Bulgarian Educational Site (BEST) – a possible answer to Koper’s question. The BEST is a virtual learning environment, based on the following principles: learning is a goal-directed and didactics-managed process; learners may define their own learning objectives, monitor and regulate the learning process; collaborative e-learning is more effective; etc. The BEST is based on two famous e-learning systems (Moodle, LAMS) and Plovdiv e-University (versions 1.0 and 2.0). The paper brings up a mater about the new ‘electronic’ pedagogy and proposes an approach for pedagogical modeling and interpretation of e-learning applied in the BEST.

Abstract: At present in the educational process of electrical engineering disciplines electronic learning program, providing control over reproductive educational-cognitive activity (the decision of standard problems) and universal modeling program systems, for instance Electronics Workbench, giving a chance of organizing productive, in particular research activity are basically used. However universal modeling program systems can not provide auto control over educational-cognitive activity because of the absence of the feedback with students. The combined didactic interactive program system, providing the closed directed auto control over both the reproductive and productive heuristic educational-cognitive activity of the student is offered.

Abstract: This paper presents a technique for building complex and adaptive meshes for urban and architectural design. The combination of a self-organizing map and cellular automata algorithms stands as a method for generating meshes otherwise static. This intends to be an auxiliary tool for the architect or the urban planner, improving control over large amounts of spatial information. The traditional grid employed as design aid is improved to become more general and flexible.

Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: The Universal Networking Language (UNL) is an interlingua designed to be the base of several natural language processing systems aiming to support multilinguality in internet. One of the main components of the language is the dictionary of Universal Words (UWs), which links the vocabularies of the different languages involved in the project. As any NLP system, coverage and accuracy in its lexical resources are crucial for the development of the system. In this paper, the authors describes how a large coverage UWs dictionary was automatically created, based on an existent and well known resource like the English WordNet?. Other aspects like implementation details and the evaluation of the final UW set are also depicted.

MODELING AND ANNOTATING THE EXPRESSIVE SEMANTICS OF DANCE VIDEOS

Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: Dance videos are interesting and semantics-intensive. At the same time, they are the complex type of videos compared to all other types such as sports, news and movie videos. In fact, dance video is the one which is less explored by the researchers across the globe. Dance videos exhibit rich semantics such as macro features and micro features and can be classified into several types. Hence, the conceptual modeling of the expressive semantics of the dance videos is very crucial and complex. This paper presents a generic Dance Video Semantics Model (DVSM) in order to represent the semantics of the dance videos at different granularity levels, identified by the components of the accompanying song. This model incorporates both syntactic and semantic features of the videos and introduces a new entity type called, Agent, to specify the micro features of the dance videos. The instantiations of the model are expressed as graphs. The model is implemented as a tool using J2SE and JMF to annotate the macro and micro features of the dance videos. Finally examples and evaluation results are provided to depict the effectiveness of the proposed dance video model.

Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: The polyparametric intelligence information system for diagnostics human functional state in medicine and public health is developed. The essence of the system consists in polyparametric describing of human functional state with the unified set of physiological parameters and using the polyparametric cognitive model developed as the tool for a system analysis of multitude data and diagnostics of a human functional state. The model is developed on the basis of general principles geometry and symmetry by algorithms of artificial intelligence systems. The architecture of the system is represented. The model allows analyzing traditional signs - absolute values of electrophysiological parameters and new signs generated by the model – relationships of ones. The classification of physiological multidimensional data is made with a transformer of the model. The results are presented to a physician in a form of visual graph – a pattern individual functional state. This graph allows performing clinical syndrome analysis. A level of human functional state is defined in the case of the developed standard (“ideal”) functional state. The complete formalization of results makes it possible to accumulate physiological data and to analyze them by mathematics methods.

ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION OF SYNTHETIC APERTURE ULTRASOUND ...

Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: An effective aperture approach is used as a tool for analysis and parameter optimization of mostly known ultrasound imaging systems - phased array systems, compounding systems and synthetic aperture imaging systems. Both characteristics of an imaging system, the effective aperture function and the corresponding two-way radiation pattern, provide information about two of the most important parameters of images produced by an ultrasound system - lateral resolution and contrast. Therefore, in the design, optimization of the effective aperture function leads to optimal choice of such parameters of an imaging systems that influence on lateral resolution and contrast of images produced by this imaging system. It is shown that the effective aperture approach can be used for optimization of a sparse synthetic transmit aperture (STA) imaging system. A new two-stage algorithm is proposed for optimization of both the positions of the transmitted elements and the weights of the receive elements. The proposed system employs a 64-element array with only four active elements used during transmit. The numerical results show that Hamming apodization gives the best compromise between the contrast of images and the lateral resolution.

Rating: (1.00/10)

Abstract: Determination of the so-called optical constants (complex refractive index N, which is usually a function of the wavelength, and physical thickness D) of thin films from experimental data is a typical inverse non-linear problem. It is still a challenge to the scientific community because of the complexity of the problem and its basic and technological significance in optics. Usually, solutions are looked for models with 3-10 parameters. Best estimates of these parameters are obtained by minimization procedures. Herein, we discuss the choice of orthogonal polynomials for the dispersion law of the thin film refractive index. We show the advantage of their use, compared to the Selmeier, Lorentz or Cauchy models.
