Abstract: The report reviews the circumstances of formation of the European higher education area as well as the factors retarding entry of Ukraine into this structure. It analyzes the influence of the main parties governing form and content of education under the conditions of the present-day Ukraine. A comparison of curriculums of Ukrainian universities with that of other countries is carried out. A detailed analysis of the policy pursued by other countries for the benefit of engaging students from abroad is given as well. The perspectives of research universities in Ukraine are discussed.
